Greetings, Tennenbaum Tech Students and Families! I'm excited to begin my 10th year as a teacher at Tenn Tech. I received my bachelor's in English from UC Riverside and my credential and Master's in Teaching from USC. This year, I will be teaching 11th and 12th grade English.
Here's my story about how college changed my life:
Growing up with a family of doctors, lawyers, and engineers, I was groomed to enter and flourish in one of those fields. Despite these paths, I always knew that none of them were truly for me; I would always just be forced into “liking” these options. Having earned low Bs and Cs in core subjects for these fields, I never felt confident enough to feel successful. I did, however, find my niche in my first college English class. I was praised for my work consistently, AND I actually liked what I was learning. I decided to change my major to English, even though I didn’t know what I would do with this major and I was constantly told that I would never know and face criticism for this decision. Teaching was always in the back of my mind, but if it wasn’t for this decision, I never would have discovered the sense of meaning and fulfillment that I feel almost everyday.
