7th Annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference at UCLA

Dear Families,

The 7th Annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference (IYEC) being held on May 24th, 2014 at the UCLA Campus. This year’s theme is “Staying Grounded, Moving Forward with Our Families.” This is a free daylong event that consists of various workshops that will educate, empower, and provide attendees with important information on how undocumented youth can pursue higher education and create change to better their communities. Please see below for more info. If you require assistance with transportation or busing for the Conference, please be sure to RSVP by this Friday, April 25th, 2014 at the following link: http://ideasla.org/index/about-us/ab-540-project/iyec2014. Complimentary daycare and food will be provided for all attendees. Additionally, 8 Parent Volunteer Hours will be credited for attending the conference. If you are planning to attend, please reply to this e-mail, since I am the lead contact and am requesting a bus for us!

Improving Dreams, Equality, Access and Success (IDEAS) at UCLA is the primary undocumented student support and advocacy network at UCLA. Outreach letters are provided/attached in a variety of languages.

Le escribo para hacerles saber acerca de la 7ª Conferencia Anual del Inmigrante Youth Empowerment ( IYEC ) que se celebra el 24 de mayo de 2014 en el campus de UCLA. El tema de este año es "El Permanecer conectado y Avanzando con Nuestras Familias." Este es un evento gratuito que consiste de varios talleres para educar, capacitar y proporcionar a los asistentes con información importante sobre la manera que jóvenes indocumentados pueden seguir una educación superior y crear un cambio de mejorar sus comunidades. Greetings from the AB540 Project,

We would like to encourage everyone to invite their educators, community organizations, friends and families to the 7th Annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference (IYEC) being held onMay 24th, 2014 at the UCLA Campus. This year’s theme is “Staying Grounded, Moving Forward with Our Families.” This is a free daylong event that consists of various workshops that will educate, empower, and provide attendees with important information on how undocumented youth can pursue higher education and create change to better their communities. The conference will also provide immigrant youth the opportunity to become part of a nationwide network of undocumented students and allies. Attendees will also become eligible for the IYEC Scholarship by attending the conference. If groups of 25 or more would like transportation please ask them to RSVP by the Transportation Request Deadline: April 25th, 2014.
